Rugby Rules for Beginners
Rugby, unlike many other sports, does not have "rules". The sport of rugby is governed by a "law" book established by World Rugby. The law allows the officials the flexibility to "interpret" the law in order to better manage the safety and flow of the game. Rugby is fast paced, physical, and continuous.
Rugby 101 Player Position
Rugby 101 provides an example of the numerous positions on the rugby pitch. Rugby XV's has 15 players a side. Matches for HS D1 are 70 minutes and the Middle School and youth play slightly shorter matches with 3 quarters instead of 2 halves. Rugby VII's has 7 a side and play 7 minute halves with the championship games consisting of 10 minute halves. Cape Pirate Rugby plays XV's in the Spring and VII's in the Summer.
